CompAir Aims to Cut Emissions by More Than 22,000 Tonnes

CompAir, a brand of Ingersoll Rand, has launched an exciting and environmentally impactful commitment! They have committed to plant one tree for every variable-speed compressor sold in the United Kingdom –AND– to plant one tree for every CompAir, Champion, Ingersoll Rand, Gardner Denver or Hydrovane compressor serviced!

CompAir is partnering with Carbon Footprint for this campaign, an environmental organization committed to tracking and reducing carbon emission at the source. Carbon Footprint will help source suitable locations for the tree donations and assist with tree planting activities. The campaign will reduce the carbon footprint through the planting of trees and will serve as an incentive for our customers to lower their energy bills and their carbon footprint by investing in the latest energy-efficient compressed air technology.

“Our popular L75RS CompAir compressor has also been optimised recently to provide higher air delivery, a new, compact footprint of only 2.23m2 and a lower noise level,” said Colin Mander, business line director. “The new machine offers efficiency improvements of up to 6.8% over previous models, and a higher flow rate up to 6% from the brand-new air ends, delivering significantly lower lifetime costs.”

One tree for each energy-efficient compressor purchased or serviced, along with the energy and carbon savings from the machine, will result in a combined reduction of 22,400 tonnes of CO2, which is equivalent to the emissions of 4,800 cars being taken off the road for one year!

The campaign has garnered favorable attention from the industry and media: UK Manufacturing, Industrial Compliance, and Process and Control Today.

“Getting involved couldn't be easier,” said Colin. “For every customer that purchases a new variable-speed compressor from our CompAir or Hydrovane ranges, we will plant a tree as a thank you for helping to contribute to lower carbon emissions. Customers can simply speak to their local CompAir or Hydrovane distributor, to arrange a free energy audit, to help ascertain the energy savings that they could make by switching to a variable-speed machine.”

Wait! There’s more!

In addition to planting trees across the UK, CompAir will also be supporting a biodiversity reserve project in Rimba Raya, Borneo with the aim to offset 200 tCO2e of its operation emissions. This project seeks to reverse the effects of deforestation in the region, helping to protect endangered species, contribute to the local economy and provide access to clean water and health services.

CompAir is also in the process of organizing five sustainability seminars across the UK where we are partnering with British Compressed Air Society and independent energy experts to discuss the future of energy saving in the compressed air industry.
